Fisher's Chess & Backgammon Gameboard

$5.00

This set of instructions will walk you through step-by-step in creating the chessboard, the necessary jigs to cut the triangles for the backgammon board, making decorative trim, and building the box and drawer. I would consider this a complex project for the advanced woodworker. Having previously created some of my table saw jigs (Crosscut sled, Miter sled, Box joint jig, and Spline jig) will definitely help you in this project. If you haven’t already, be sure to pick up my plans for the Table Saw Jigs1 & Table Saw Jigs2! At the end of this project, you will have a decorative Chess gameboard that has a drawer to hold the pieces as well as 30 checkers. The surface can be flipped to reveal a full Backgammon board for that game to be played as well. There are finger grips on the sides to allow for easy moving, and a solid bottom so it can be set on a table or a pedestal. This is quite a showstopper of a piece and will definitely showcase your skills as a woodworker.

  • Dimensions: All measurements are in Imperial format only! The gameboard is 17 1/2” x 17 1/2” x 4 3/4”

  • File Format: This document is a PDF and readable using Adobe Acrobat Reader or other PDF-compatible viewers.
